I'm still here and still pregnant ;)

Week 38 ....14 days until my due date!!!

Here is my photo from last week. Nothing to speak of. Blood pressure is back to normal thank god.
After all the pre term labor our little boy has decided he likes mommas belly much more than what he expects outside. I've been sitting on my birth ball and doing light house work in hopes to get this show on the road. I know i'm still 14 days away from his EDD, but this momma is stretched to the max and just CANNOT wait to meet this little boy. <3

Week 36 Day 5

Well we are in the home stretch.
Our baby boy will be here sometime this month. OR if he's stubborn early January, but we won't go there just yet ;)

Feeling good, anxious, happy, sad....it's all a part of the process! I just can't wait until my baby boy is safe in my arms.

Week 35 Day 6....

30 days until my due date!

Well not much new stuff on my end. Still truckin' along and waiting for this baby to make his debut. He's a kung fu master and loves to give me jabs when I lay down to go to sleep. I love it. It's harder and harder to do anything these days. He's really low now so I can stuff more food in my gullet. Looking forward to exercising and eating a little healthier soon. With the holidays it's hard to eat healthy! Getting protein in has got to be my hardest challenge.

Our little baby will be full term in about 8 days. YAY!

Week 34 Day 6

I should just post this under Week 35 since I'm only a day away but that feels like cheating.

Everything is going good. Another emergency trip to L & D earlier in the week when my contractions were strong and only 3 minutes apart...yikes! But luckily there was no cervical change so baby is still snug as a bug.

The DR. also informed us that there is a chance the baby will be born as early as week 37 b/c of all the contractions i've been getting. I've definitely reached the point of being uncomfortable pretty much 24/7. It's very hard to get up from the sofa or bed and walking is now more of a waddle.

Looking forward to meeting this little guy. Only about a month left if I go 'til my due date.

Pumpkin time!

My husband and I went to the Roloff farm here in Oregon to pick out a fabulous pumpkin. It was pretty fun! We bought 2 pumpkins and will enjoy carving them later today while we watch MONSTER HOUSE!

Week 26 day 5

Woo-hoo! The last two days have been fantastic. I've been able to move around pain free for the most part. My husband did all the yard work, which we're hoping is the last for the season.

The little boy has been moving around and is so big that he wakes me up all hours of the night with all his movements. I love it. I've been eating heartily and have been trying my best to stay away from too many sweets. My gestational diabetes test is in a little over a week so it's making me super nervous!

The weather is cooling down here, which also means rainy season. I don't know how often I'll be able to take my photo in front of our blue spruce tree. I was hoping the full series would be in front the tree but we'll see!

Week 25 day 6

Well we've made it to the official 100 day countdown!

This week has been good so far. I'm moving around a bit more. My modified bed rest is so much better than strict. Last night was the first night I felt him roll or stretch out. I've been feeling kicks and punches for weeks but this is a whole new ball game.

In the middle of watching Total Recall I looked down b/c I felt something really weird. I could see a large mass pushing my belly outward about a half inch. I immediately told Rick to look and he saw it too. So that's a milestone...he's now big enough to scare me with his movements, ha.

I am about 2 weeks from my 3rd trimester. Can't wait!!!

Monday, September 12, 2011

A GIANT thank you to my husband

Thanks for going above and beyond since I've been on bed rest. You are the best and our little baby thanks you so I can make sure he's stays safe.

Modified bed rest

The doctors visit went well today. I will SLOWLY transition from strict bed rest to modified and then gradually make my way to being a fully functioning momma soon. We set a date for the baby shower and we are going to do it at my house in case bed rest comes back. I can't wait to bake the cake for the baby shower. I have worked with fondant previously so I think I'll try something neat-o.

Taking my weekly photo (by the tree again) tomorrow. Yay!

How far along?  24 weeks 5 days
Total weight gain/loss?  about plus 14 lbs

Week 23

I'm back with my irritable uterus.....

This past week has been a whirl wind of ups and downs. I'm 23 weeks 6 days today (woo-hoo).

This story will have too much information for some....be warned.

So I was on my way to have lunch with a friend this Thursday when all of a sudden I started getting these sharp pains in my belly and could hardly breathe. We got to the restaurant and I thought maybe I just had to tinkle really bad. Sometimes if our little guy is resting on my bladder it can cause some major discomfort. So I went and that made the pains worse. I told my friend I had to leave immediately and called my Doctor who suggested I go straight to Labor and Delivery. I arrived (completely terrified) and they admitted me. After hooking me up to the machines and getting some samples (urine and blood) they discovered I was having frequent contractions (my heart stopped and the room spun). It is WAY too early for that. They told me the only way to make sure it wasn't TRUE labor was to give me a shot and check my cervix. It turns out they were braxton hicks contractions and my cervix was closed and elongated which is what it's supposed to be at this point.

They said they found white blood cells in my urine which is not uncommon during pregnancy but that they would do a culture and call with the results in a few days.....IN A FEW DAYS. Meanwhile they discharged me and told me to take it easy. I woke up in the middle of the night with more pains. Freaked out some more and called the Doctor in the morning. (It's now Friday). My Doc said to stay hydrated and to go back to L&D if I had any of the symptoms listed on my discharge papers. I took it east but by 3:00pm I was completely about to lose my cool. I called back and she said I should go to L&D to get monitored again and that maybe that would help diagnose me.

Friday evening we arrive at L&D and they do more monitoring and I get a fantastic Doctor this time ( not that the last wasn't but he did send me home clueless and still in pain). He said I had gastritis and a UTI so they put me on antibiotics and prilosec. I hate taking medicine while pregnant but I was in so much pain I could hardly think the risks of my infection getting worse compared to taking some meds that they assured me were safe for the baby.

He diagnosed me with an irritable uterus and put me on bed rest. It still is very uncomfortable to walk and I get the BH's if I'm up to fast or too long. I was assured that the baby is none the wiser to what's going on and that he's healthy and doing good.

I'll try to take my picture today since I'll have to get out of my PJ's to get to the Doctors office. I've had a perfect pregnancy thus far so I hope this is just a blip in the radar!

In happier news our little boy is moving like a little boxer these days. He's a busy busy bee.

Week 21 picture ( a bit late!)

Lots going on around here. Frederick's nursery is almost finished (sans most of the furniture). We did get the crib from my mother in law. She bought it and had it sent to us. It's beautiful. I'll post pics once the room is complete.

I had some dizzy spells which were scary but the nurse had me eat protein every 3 hours and that made it go away. It's hot here right now, so I haven't been eating a ton, which is what I'm guessing caused the dizzies.

Yesterday he hardly moved so I freaked out....he's been very active today so I have to learn to BREATHE.

What they don't tell you Wednesdays

Shaving- Have you seen cirque du soleil? My belly isn't even that big but for some reason it is VERY difficult to maneuver around my belly to shave my legs.

Shoes- I haven't worn shoes that need to be tied in months because it's summer. Flip flops and slip ons have been my staple. We went bowling with some friends this weekend and so I decided to wear tennis shoes. I COULD NOT TIE MY OWN SHOES. Thank you sweet husband for taking such good care of me...and tying my shoes =)

Oy.

Week 18 day 7

my kind of gal

I stumbled upon this while researching pregnancy photography.

Here is the link:  http://www.yaeko-photography.com/blog/very-cute-clown-outfit-pregnant-mommy-picture/

I just like out of the ordinary. As a photographer i'm always happy when someone chooses to do something out the box.

What they don't tell you Wednesdays

The freak out...

The baby hasn't moved in a while, is he/she still alive?
What's that pain? My belly hurts, is the baby hurt?

Every little twinge of pain or lack of feelings causes me to go into crazy momma mode.

The best of it is NO ONE can tell you if it's ok. Doctors, Midwives..etc..basically say if you aren't doubled over in pain or bleeding than don't worry about it. Easy for them to say =)

All IS well here....I over did it yesterday so i'm taking it easy today.

8 days until our anatomy scan!!!!

project 1 complete!

Our kitchen, dining and living rooms are basically one big rectangled space. Our kitchen is teeny tiny and we had our kitchen table shoved next to the front door and it collected everything except us sitting down to eat at it. We had a wood stove with a stone background which I loved BUT after an inspection we found out everything had to be replaced in order for it to be safe. It's very expensive so we decided we could really use that extra space. My husband pretty much did all the work (thank you!). So here it is.

Next project the nursery!

Cravings: sorry pregnant ladies

Now in my 18th week I have cravings that make me think this is what a heroin addict must feel like. If I want such and such....I literally can't sleep until I get it.

Here are a few from this week

fruitcake....the store bought 10 lb beast

this EXACT meal  (there aren't any chik fil a's here....sigh.)

broiled brussel sprouts. At least this is a healthy craving

pancakes with LOTS of butter ...don't judge me.

What they don't tell you Wednesdays

A list of things people don't tell you about being pregnant

1) Hair....they tell you your nails and hair will grow fast, strong and shiny because of the prenatal vitamins...
What they DON'T mention is this goes for all hair....legs, underarm....and many places hair shouldn't be but now is.

2) I can feel my organs.
When I get in and out of bed I have to use my tummy muscles, which in turn crunch me up. Last night I noticed I can feel exactly where my uterus and actual stomach are. Upon this newfound knowledge I laid in bed unable to sleep and had strange dreams regarding my organs revolting against me.

3) Unsolicited advice: Sure you know it's coming...but you have no idea how furious it will make you. So tired of hearing "you think your big now just wait". REALLY?!!? Please let me never be one of those people after all this is done.

4) The need to talk to other pregnant people: When I see anyone who is pregnant I feel an urge to nod or chat or maybe even breakdance.  What up with that?
